Today we learned how to use “si” clauses with the conditional and did lots of speaking practice.

Today we talked about our vacations (how it was/what we did), practiced using “quand” and “si” clauses, and practiced dialogues.

Today we practiced using more than 1  object pronoun in a sentence, learned the future, did some oral practice and started a dialogue project.

Today we discussed some “questions personnelles” with the verb “dire” and did some oral practice with the object pronouns me/te/nous/vous in imperative and infinitive constructions.  We also practiced questions for the oral interview.

Today we reviewed dire/lire/écrire and the vocab pg 225. We also continued to work on indirect object pronouns.

Today we reviewed some indirect object pronouns through questions and a speaking activity.  We also practiced projects.

Today we practiced some of the verbs pg 220, shared our summaries of the reading and comparisons of Carnaval/Carême in small groups, and then had some practice time for projects.

Devoirs :  Practice project!! Write a paragraph of 10 sentences about your best/a good friend.  Use direct object pronouns as much as possible (you may replace the friend or the other things you talk about with your friend).  This assignment is inspired from pg 220 #1 (à votre tour) if you need some ideas/a jumping off place…

Today in class we learned how to use direct objects in the passé composé, practiced projects in partners, and did some work around choosing between using “savoir” or “connaître” in context.

Today in class we practiced circumstances when one would use passé composé and imparfait in the same sentence.  Then we discussed projects and did the final peer edit.

Today we had a substitute.  We did some review of the relative pronouns “qui et que” and had some project work time.

A Faire:  pg 312 #9, you must rewrite the whole sentence using qui/que as appropriate.

TEC:  pg 312 #1 (A Votre Tour), must be at least 6 sentences and get increasingly more obvious through the paragraph.  We will share them next class.

Devoirs :  HAVE A 2 PAGE ROUGH DRAFT, DOUBLE SPACED, READY FOR PEER EDITING!!  You draft must be complete, double spaced and printed BEFORE you arrive in class!!

Today we learned about the relative pronoun « qui », went over some common struggles for students when writing in French, and did a peer-edit of 1 page of the draft of the famous person essay.

Today we discussed the required outline and rough draft of the project and then we did work on the computers in the library.  We also talked about our package/letters to the Congo.

Today we reviewed vocab and structures that would be helpful for writing and editing the penpal letters (identity questions/answers, adjectives, c’est/il est, word order, etc.)  Then we did a peer edit of the letters and a quick review of reflexive verbs in the imperative.

Today we sang “Tête, epaules, genoux et pieds” and reviewed the imperative.  We began learning how to use the imperative with reflexive verbs and the irregular forms of être and avoir in the imperative.

Today we did some speaking practice and then continued the film “Joyeux Noël.”

Devoirs :  Write an introduction letter to a new pen pal in the Congo.  Give them an overview of who you are and what your life is like. Consider: likes, activities, family, friends, where you live, leisure time, school, etc.  1 page minimum (this is a great way to review basics in preparation for your big written exam coming in January).  Know the following vocabulary:  body parts, all reflexives we’ve covered and toiletry items (vocab quiz the week we get back!)

Today we shared our daily routines in partners and gave each other feedback.  Then we started a film called” “Joyeux Noël”

(when do you wake/get up?  What do you do to get ready?  What routines do have before bed?  8 sentences minimum and must use at least 5 reflexives! Today we had a substitute.  We practiced body parts and verbs by playing “Jacques a dit” (Simon says) and read a short story (pg 280-281) out loud in groups and discussed the content.

Today in class we did a survey of the class using se réveiller/se lever and se coucher, brainstormed body parts and learned/practiced ways to describe being healthy. 

A Faire :  Do a survey of 10 people and find out what time the get up and go to bed (in general).  Write sentences explaining your findings.

Today we recounted our weekends and did some reflexive practice.

A Faire :  pg 277 #7. Write the question and answer “starters” so that you can fill them in with the specifics (below the pics) in your conversations with your partner.  The idea is you get lots of practice with these verbs!!

Today we continued learning about reflexive verbs, including infinitive construction and practiced telling about an event by describing an image.

Today in class we discussed possessive adjectives (mon, ma, mes, etc.), the guided dialogue from the homework, and learned about reflexive verbs.

TEC :  Read « le jour de Thanksgiving de Mme. Reid » out loud and try to identify the meaning of the reflexive verbs listed on the back (also underlined in the text) by using the context only (no dictionary or wordreference!)

Devoirs :  Revise « dialogue dirigé », pg 267 #3 (must write at least subject/reflexive pronoun/verb but should write whole sentence.) and #4 (read the context and decide if the person “se reposer” or not)

Today we practiced talking about what we ate for Thanksgiving and shared about Thanksgiving weekend.  We also turned in the Thanksgiving journals.

A Faire :  Take notes over the PowerPoint and answer the following questions in complete sentences and with at least 3 vocab words in each:  “Qu’est-ce que tu aimes manger?”  “Qu’est-ce que tu n’aimes pas/détestes manger?”
