We did an activity matching slogans and products, reviewed COD in passé composé, and had some time to work on preparing project presentations for “les publicités”

Mardi 23/02

We learned how to use direct object pronouns in the passé composé (particularly the agreements of past participles).  We also had some time to work on preparing project presentations for “les publicités”

Vendredi 19/02:

We learned how to use direct object pronouns in imperative and infinitive constructions.  We also had time to work in small groups on the reading and discuss the comprehension questions.

Mercredi 17/02

We reviewed then practiced using various conjugations of connaître and direct object pronouns.  We also learned that me/te/nous/vous can be used to replace direct objects.  We had some small group time to discuss the reading.

ObjectifStudents will practice using direct object pronouns to discuss people/places they know.

A Faire:  Write a sentence for each slide using connaître and a direct object pronoun.  Attention:  half way through, your answers change to “nous” and you’re answering for you and your partner!


Devoirs :  pg 205 # 1—questions and answers using “me” and “te” as direct objects (Invite me to the movies ok?  Ok, I’m inviting you to the movies)

Vendredi 12/02

We listened to our song, did some oral practice with direct object pronouns, learned the verb “connaitre” and worked in partners/small groups on a reading about Mardi Gras/Carnaval.

ObjectifStudents will learn to use the verb connaître and other related verbs.

A Faire:  pg 215 #1


TEC :  Read article out loud and in partners/groups of 3.  After each paragraph, stop to discuss meaning and take notes over any new/unfamiliar vocab and grammar.  *Use vocab on the back page too.  Keep in mind that you are trying to get the main ideas, not translate word for word!!  We will discuss and do comprehension activities in class on Wed.

Devoirs :  pg 218 #5 (write questions and answers with direct object pronouns), take notes over details/expressions with connaitre pg 215.  Finish reading Carnaval/Mardi Gras and be ready to discuss your understanding.

Mercredi 10/02

Today we went over our song and we learned how to use direct object pronouns to mean “it” and “him/her”.  We had a little gallery of projects to see what each other had done and discussed Mardi Gras.

ObjectifStudents will learn about direct object pronouns.

A Faire:  pg 216 #3 (write the whole sentence containing the pronoun you’re adding.)

Devoirs :  pg 217 #4 (write your responses to the questions about whether you’re taking each item camping.  Use “prendre” and the appropriate direct object pronoun to replace the item in question)  Start thinking about/planning for your oral presentation of “les publicités”!

Lundi 08/02

We reviewed body part and toiletry vocab through another circumlocution activity and some other in-class practice.  We also had a chance to complete a peer-edit and work on the project in class.

ObjectifStudents will be able to use circumlocution to describe familiar vocabulary.

A Faire:  pg 274 #1 répondez à toutes les questions à phrases complètes. Pour les dernières questions, vous avez besoin d’observer ou faire un peu de recherche !

Jeudi 04/02

We reviewed reflexives in the passé compose, did a survey of classmates using them and had some project work time.

ObjectifStudents will be able to communicate about past actions using reflexives.

A Faire:  pg 287 #5--say whether or not the person had fun (s’amuser) or not.

TEC :  Project work time      

Devoirs : read pg 288 #1 and take detailed notes, come prepared with a rough draft of the writing portion of your project for peer-edit on Monday

Mardi 02/02

We listened to our song, practiced describing toiletry items using circumlocution, reviewed reflexives in the passé compose, and started a new project.

ObjectifStudents will be able to use reflexives in the past tense.

A Faire:  pg 287 #7 (prepare questions/answers, do orally in partners)


TEC :  Share « a routine quotidienne » orally in partners using transition words (first, then, after, finally)

Devoirs :  pg 286 #5, have a concept ready for your project (you will have some work time in class), continue studying vocab/structures.
