Mercredi 28/01

Today we discussed the required outline and rough draft of the project and then we did work on the computers in the library.  We also talked about our package/letters to the Congo.


Devoirs :  Detailed outline of entire essay (à rendre—to turn in!), a 1-page (typed length) rough draft.  MUST BE DOUBLE SPACED FOR PEER EDITING!  This will likely be the first 2-3 paragraphs of your essay (not the entire thing).  We will continue the writing process next week.  Bring anything you want included in the package to the Congo on Monday (artifacts of American/Portlan/Grant culture…)

Lundi 26/01

Today we learned how to use the relative pronoun “que” and looked at our tests.  Retakes can happen in class on Wednesday or someother time outside of class (no tutorial this week!)

A Faire :  pg 311 #7

Devoirs :  pg 312 #8 (first part of sentence in present tense, second part—after the “que”—in passé compose), finish research and start writing.

Vendredi 23/01

Today we discussed the project and learned some valuable resource tools from Mme. Battle.  Then we did research in the library.  Cliquez ici pour le lien au blog de Mme. Battle!


Devoirs :  Finish research, read through the example readings and make observations about what makes them strong structurally and grammatically (be prepared to share these in class), Quoi de Neuf packet pg 6 #5 (choose 2 and answer the questions given, be prepared to share/respond orally in class)

Today we took an exam.

Devoirs :  Choose a famous (dead) French-speaker to research for past tense project, read project handout, “Quoi de Neuf” packet pg 6 #4 (re-write the paragraph in past tense—pay close attention to pc/imp!), bring laptop if you’d rather use that than library computers on Friday!!

Vendredi 16/01

Today we did  a lot of speaking practice with reflexives and reviewed the formation of different structures.  We also discussed the mini-projet “agent de publicité française” and the upcoming big project.

Mercredi 14/01

Today we reviewed reflexives, learned how to use them in the past tense, did some reading/listening comprehension, and started a mini-project.  We discussed the exam for next Wednesday as well.


Devoirs :  pg 286 #5, start planning project (due Wednesday) and prepare for exam (see list below)

Examen de mercredi prochain:  basics, regular verb vocab, identity info (who you are—Ecusson type stuff), pc/imp, reflexives (vocab and in all tenses), weather vocab (packet), body parts, toiletry items, transition words (first, then, after, finally, etc.), sports/health vocab (including courir), clothing, question lists, culture…

Today we did some review of the imperative with reflexives and played the “Sondage/Loto”

A Faire :  Give the following commands/suggestions:
Tell your brother to be quiet
Tell a group to sit down
Say let’s have fun!
Tell a group to wash their hands
Tell your dad to shave
Let’s go for a walk!
Your friend is still in bed, tell him/her to get up!

Today we did some work with reflexives, talked about letters to the Congo, worked through some issues with passé composé/imparfait and took a pop quiz.

TECPC/IMP paragraph—fill in the blanks with the passé compose or imparfait form of the corresponding verb below.

Devoirs :  pg 285 #4, revise and finalize letter (including any pictures or supplements you want to include with it!)

Mercredi 07/01

Today we reviewed vocab and structures that would be helpful for writing and editing the penpal letters (identity questions/answers, adjectives, c’est/il est, word order, etc.)  Then we did a peer edit of the letters and a quick review of reflexive verbs in the imperative.

Devoirs :  Sondage/Loto (use the infinitive constructions I gave you in each box to write the questions on the lines in correct format.  All should be in the present tense except “Avoir eu de la grippe l’annee derniere” should be in the passé compose.  Also, consider your responses to the questions…how would you answer them?)  Review regular verb conjugations and study vocab (reflexives, body parts, toiletries, etc.) for upcoming quizzes.

Lundi 05/01

Today we sang “Tête, epaules, genoux et pieds” and reviewed the imperative.  We began learning how to use the imperative with reflexive verbs and the irregular forms of être and avoir in the imperative.

A Faire :  Imperative Review handout.  #1 use verbs given in parentheses.  #2 use the appropriate form of être, choose between negative and affirmative construction.

Devoirs :  Finish A Faire, pg. 285 #2 & #3, have your pen pal letter finished, double spaced and ready for peer edit in class on Wed.  Present tense verb conjugation POP quiz coming, also vocab quiz over new health, body, toiletries vocabulary.  Study!
