Jeudi 31/03

We did some review activities, went over some homework and then learned about Poisson d’Avril.

Objectif:  Students will review for test and learn about Poisson d’avril

A Faire:  Paquet (COI) #7 (savoir & connaître)

TEC: Make « poisson d’avril » !


Devoirs :  first page front and back of “paquet COD” (NOT the most recent packet but the previous one) for review of direct object pronouns.  Study for test on Wednesday!

All missing work must be turned in by Monday 4/4/16 (NO EXCEPTIONS!!!)

All quizzes must be made up this week!!

Exam next Wednesday 4/6/16.  Topics to study/review:

reflexives (all tenses/vocab), article de toilette, parties du corps, other relevant vocab/expressions (avoir mal à, utiliser/mettre, plier, sauter/Jacques a dit vocab, etc), sports/faire de, COD, COI (related verbs), lire/dire/écrire/savoir/être, Mardi Gras, Poisson d'Avril, review short readings!

Mardi 29/03

We talked about vacations, reviewed “savoir/connaître,” did a comprehension activity for the homework reading and then did a reading in small groups about differences in cultural customs.

Objectif:  Students will review the uses of savoir and connaître.

A Faire:  pg 231 #12 (prepare the explanations and then do the activity orally in partners)

TEC: Pg 234-235  Un Américain à Paris.  Read in small groups (à haute voix/tour de rôle).  For each scenario, choose what you think the cause of his problems is and write in cahier. Once you’ve discussed/shared your ideas for each scenario on the page…look together at the real reasons on the next page.  Write the cultural difference down in your notes!

We had our fête de crêpe!

Objectif:  Students will celebrate with crepes.

Devoirs:  reading comp back of battleship (take detailed notes over vocab/content, comprehension activity after break!), pg 231 #14 (use knowledge of both verbs to complete!)  Study for summative exam after break!!!

Lundi 14/03

We practices me/te/nous/vous in imperative construction, did some oral practice, watched presentations and then continued playing battleship to review our new and old irregular verbs.

Objectif:  Students will practice using me/te/nous/vous in the imperative.

A Faire:  pg 207 #7 (write le refus et l’explication)

We reviewed direct and indirect object pronouns, particularly me/te/nous/vous.  We continued presentations and then played battleship to review our new and old irregular verbs.

Mardi 08/03

We continued practicing using indirect objects and focused specifically on distinguishing between verbs that take direct/indirect objects.  We also started “Publicité” presentations.

Objectif:  Students will practice using indirect object pronouns

A Faire:  paquet (COI) #2: add the person in parentheses to the sentence using an “à” when necessary.  Then rewrite each sentence using a COD or COI as appropriate.

Vendredi 04/03

We distinguished between and practiced “dire” and “raconter,” and practiced using the new vocab/verbs from pages 224-225 (we played 2 truths and a lie).  We also began learning to use indirect object pronouns.  At the end, prizes were awarded for the winning advertisements in each of the 5 categories.

Objectif:  Students will learn to use indirect object pronouns

Mercredi 02/03

We learned the present tense conjugations of dire/lire/écrire and practiced using “que” (that) after the verb dire.  We also played a review game in teams with the white boards.

Objectif:  Students will learn the present tense conjugations of dire/lire/écrire.

Lundi 29/02

We looked at a few more advertisements up close and voted on the best ones (various categories).  We had some time to practice direct object pronouns and went over some homework.  We also had some project work time.

Objectif:  Students will review use of direct object pronouns in past tense.

We did an activity matching slogans and products, reviewed COD in passé composé, and had some time to work on preparing project presentations for “les publicités”

We learned how to use direct object pronouns in the passé composé (particularly the agreements of past participles).  We also had some time to work on preparing project presentations for “les publicités”

Mercredi 17/02

We reviewed then practiced using various conjugations of connaître and direct object pronouns.  We also learned that me/te/nous/vous can be used to replace direct objects.  We had some small group time to discuss the reading.

Objectif:  Students will practice using direct object pronouns to discuss people/places they know.

A Faire:  Write a sentence for each slide using connaître and a direct object pronoun.  Attention:  half way through, your answers change to “nous” and you’re answering for you and your partner!


Devoirs :  pg 205 # 1—questions and answers using “me” and “te” as direct objects (Invite me to the movies ok?  Ok, I’m inviting you to the movies)

Vendredi 12/02

We listened to our song, did some oral practice with direct object pronouns, learned the verb “connaitre” and worked in partners/small groups on a reading about Mardi Gras/Carnaval.

Objectif:  Students will learn to use the verb connaître and other related verbs.

A Faire:  pg 215 #1


TEC :  Read article out loud and in partners/groups of 3.  After each paragraph, stop to discuss meaning and take notes over any new/unfamiliar vocab and grammar.  *Use vocab on the back page too.  Keep in mind that you are trying to get the main ideas, not translate word for word!!  We will discuss and do comprehension activities in class on Wed.

Devoirs :  pg 218 #5 (write questions and answers with direct object pronouns), take notes over details/expressions with connaitre pg 215.  Finish reading Carnaval/Mardi Gras and be ready to discuss your understanding.

Mercredi 10/02

Today we went over our song and we learned how to use direct object pronouns to mean “it” and “him/her”.  We had a little gallery of projects to see what each other had done and discussed Mardi Gras.

Objectif:  Students will learn about direct object pronouns.

A Faire:  pg 216 #3 (write the whole sentence containing the pronoun you’re adding.)

Devoirs :  pg 217 #4 (write your responses to the questions about whether you’re taking each item camping.  Use “prendre” and the appropriate direct object pronoun to replace the item in question)  Start thinking about/planning for your oral presentation of “les publicités”!

Lundi 08/02

We reviewed body part and toiletry vocab through another circumlocution activity and some other in-class practice.  We also had a chance to complete a peer-edit and work on the project in class.

Objectif:  Students will be able to use circumlocution to describe familiar vocabulary.

A Faire:  pg 274 #1 répondez à toutes les questions à phrases complètes. Pour les dernières questions, vous avez besoin d’observer ou faire un peu de recherche !

We reviewed reflexives in the passé compose, did a survey of classmates using them and had some project work time.

Objectif:  Students will be able to communicate about past actions using reflexives.

A Faire:  pg 287 #5--say whether or not the person had fun (s’amuser) or not.

Devoirs : read pg 288 #1 and take detailed notes, come prepared with a rough draft of the writing portion of your project for peer-edit on Monday

We listened to our song, practiced describing toiletry items using circumlocution, reviewed reflexives in the passé compose, and started a new project.

Objectif:  Students will be able to use reflexives in the past tense.

A Faire:  pg 287 #7 (prepare questions/answers, do orally in partners)


TEC :  Share « a routine quotidienne » orally in partners using transition words (first, then, after, finally)

Devoirs :  pg 286 #5, have a concept ready for your project (you will have some work time in class), continue studying vocab/structures.

Vendredi 29/01

We played our games of “Jacques a dit”, played “Loto” to review body parts before the quiz.  We took the quiz then learned how to use reflexives in the passé composé.

Objectif:  Students will be able to give commands and recognize body parts

Devoirs :  Reflexive worksheet #4 (from 2 weeks ago!) 1st number activities in order logically, then put them into sentence form in the passé composé.  Pay attention to which “hv” you need for the verb given and agreements.  Not all are reflexive!!)  Write a paragraph about your daily routine—day and/or night (Ma routine quotidienne)—see handouts for specific criteria—for turn in!! Bring movie handout!
