Today in class we practiced the conditional
by discussing the weekend homework (pg 434 #4), and learned to use the
conditional to express what one would/could do if certain circumstances were
the reality (“si” clause + result clause).

Déjeuner français—demain!!!
Bring your lunch and come meet and talk with some of the young French students visiting Grant while
earning participation credit and possible extra credit! Think about questions or topics you want to

Today we continued to practice
the future tense and learned the structure of the conditional. We discussed the reading “l’Afrique
francophone” and the questions in small groups and then in the large group,
focusing particularly on the concepts of the revolution and how
colonization/slavery were justified.

Faire: Write 5
sentences using at least 5 of the vocab words found on the front page of the
Africa packet. Some helpful verbs might be: supprimer, disparaître, aider, continuer,
changer, augmenter, etc…
Travail en
Classe (TEC): In small
groups, we wrote a paragraph summary of the reading as a way to check
understanding.

Today we continued our
discussion (the explanation) of the Africa project, Mrs. Battle shared some
valuable resources and info about citing sources, and then we went to the
library for research.

Directions:
- Please do not change any formatting of the spreadsheet without prior approval. Just input data for your country! If you make a mistake, no worries, just see me for help:)
- Make sure you scroll to the bottom and choose the tab (sheet) for the correct period, 4th/5th.
- You should input data in French if possible. If the words are clearly unfamiliar (like some industry, agriculture, and government vocabulary) then you may use English. You may have to cut/paste from word for accents.
- Some of the categories have been formatted for percents and numbers.
- For categories that require more than one item to input (languages, religions, agriculture, industry, etc..) include only the top 3-4 examples.
Citations: Here is the MLA format for citing websites
and an example of how to cite the CIA website.

watched some of the movie.

Extra Credit Opportunity: Le Jour de la Terre
Make an Earth Day Poster in
French. All writing must be approved
before put on the poster. Final posters
due by Friday 4/19.
Criteria:
Must be in color, poster size (11 x 14 or larger), and quality work.
Must be legible (clearly readable) with poster size appropriate large
print IN FRENCH!
Must have a title (a saying or question would work well.)
Must include 3 suggestions (use imperative!) to raise awareness and/or
encourage change.
Must include a minimum of 5 images related to the topic/text.

Today in class we said how our vacations were
and learned about le Poisson d’Avril (French April Fool’s Day). We colored paper fish for pranks. For PowerPoint, click HERE!

Poisson d’Avril?” sur YouTube. Remarque (prends des notes sur) tous les
sujets qu’il discute (can take notes in English!) et compte combien de poisson
il a sur son dos au début et à la fin du vidéo.
